FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can my partner come along?
Yes! Birth partners are actively encouraged to come along, but if they can’t make it it’s no problem. You’ll be very welcome in class.

When should I start classes?
You can start hypnobirthing whenever you like! Most couples like to start practicing hypnobirthing between 25 and 30 weeks pregnant, but it’s never too early or late. Even starting at 36, 37 or 38 weeks will still make a difference. If you’ve stumbled across hypnobirthing later in your pregnancy I offer a 4 hour intensive course which covers all the key information.

Is it only for people wanting a natural birth / no interventions?
No! Hypnobirthing is for ALL births. Whether you are hoping for a drug free home birth or are planning an elective c-section, hypnobirthing will help you become informed about your options and teach you techniques to stay calm and feel in control.

Does hypnobirthing guarantee a pain free birth?
Sorry, but no! Pain is an individual perception of sensation. Some people have high thresholds, others low, but hypnobirthing will teach you how you can influence your birth to make it more comfortable. Hypnobirthing is about having a positive birth experience, not a pain free one.

Why should I book an in person course instead of a pre-recorded online course?
It’s complete personal preference, however I would say benefits of booking an in person course are:

  • Investing your time into actually doing the course! Lots of people never get round to watching online videos, or don’t manage to complete them. By committing to an in-person course or workshop, you’re setting dedicated time to prepare for your birth.

  • Someone to answer your questions in real time.

  • Ongoing support from me by email, phone, text, WhatsApp - however you prefer! You’ll have me available to chat to right up until the birth of your baby.

  • Local knowledge.

Why should I choose you?
Hypnobirthing has helped me have two amazingly positive births, one at hospital and one at home.

I’m passionate about helping other expectant parents have the best birth experience possible, with unbiased, evidence based information. I have no agenda in how or where you birth your baby, everyone’s ideal birth looks a little different and that’s OK! My job is to give you the information you need to explore your options, so that you can make the right decisions for you and your baby.

I like to check in with you after the course/workshop to make sure your hypnobirthing practice is going well, and be there to support you if you have any questions come up or just need a cheerleader to keep you positive!
